two tickets to japan
Two Tickets to Japan was formed in early 2008 by Grétar and Hreiðar but later blossomed during the spring when Gísli and Hermann joined in. The band plays music that is hard to define, a mix of psychedelics and a calm combination of beauty with the occasional outburst of alternative, rock/punk,(sorry for the word jumble we just want to sound smart)
A little over a year from the start the band popped up with a 6-tracker called "The storm that makes our mind collide" to positive reactions and have been a very vivid part of the icelandic music scene for the past years. In the beginning of 2011 the band recorded a music video to the ep´s single ,,Stellar Patterns". Two Tickets to Japan, have since then put most of their focus on live performances as well as recoding single songs instead of the more conventional album. The concerts are an important lifeline for the band where improv tends to change the pre-composed music. The band uses it's concerts to go beyond their songs and in between create a soundscape that lives and dies in the moment it's made.

Two tickets to japan
The night had been eternal
and the absence of light had captured us all
We two dodged the spiral
and were forced to abolish our own fall
You, the idea, stood there aloof
a concept made for a brighter world
We, the thinkers, that wanted you
forgot you location
Everybody ignored your existence
and we were left behind
we searched, until we found the tickets
that took us to your open arms
And finally we made you whole,
you took the form of body and spirit
We kissed your feet and felt the heat
that made us realize that you were Japan
